In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the rise of digital consumerism globally, the Bureau of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Economic Affairs successfully completed the first seminar of the Taiwan-Japan Digital Trade Series Event on July 19. This series intends to promote cooperation in the Taiwan-Japan cross-border e-commerce market. Digital trade experts from the two countries shared their expertise on the DOs and DON 'Ts and used lively practical cases to illustrate the key elements for expanding into the Japanese market, while helping small and medium-sized enterprises and new entrepreneurs develop blue ocean opportunities.

Japanese experts shared their observations on the changes in Japanese people 's lifestyles and ensuing business opportunities through e-commerce due to the spread of the pandemic in Japan. Taiwanese experts unanimously emphasized the Japanese people 's high regard for integrity and encouraged Taiwanese companies to make the best use of the trust and friendship of the Japanese people toward Taiwan. Experts also pointed out the advantages and importance of e-commerce platforms, logistics systems, and product exposure through media, such as key opinion leaders (KOL) or key opinion consumers (KOC).

There will be two more online seminars on 21 and 23 July, which will continue to analyze the current status of the Japanese e-commerce B2C and B2B markets and their keys to success. Amazon, Rakuten and more on-line vendors will share their experiences and success stories in the Japanese market. These two events will also provide time for Q&As and opportunities for consultations with operating service providers on how to explore the Japanese market. For more information, please visit:
